What a let down! The promise of “never before seen footage” turns out to be the same “never before seen footage” from the last DVD. The bonus materials on this disc are a joke (and not in a comic “ha ha” plan) . The special “Introduction to the film by Dan Aykroyd” is 23 seconds long. The “Day on the Blues Brothers Tour” is nothing more than a lame performance by the modern Blues Brothers at the House of Blues. But the actual insult is the featurette called “Remembering John: An ultimate portrait of John Belushi.” It clocks in at 9 minutes long (including credits) . Ultimate?? This is John Belushi, not Garrett Morris!

You might be reading this wondering, “So what was this guy expecting? ” Well, how about an audio commentary? Perhaps some outtakes? Bloopers? Maybe concert footage of the Valid Blues Brothers on tour with Steve Martin? Why not include Blues Brothers performance footage from SNL? How about revisiting the locations made illustrious in the movie (the abandoned mall is calm standing and aloof abandoned)? Instead, they chose to include John performing as the Killer Bee on SNL. Instead of a track listing booklet inside the case, they’d rather you have an ad for other “substantial” DVD titles available from Universal. Instead of never before seen footage, you pick up the same documentary, the same production notes/pictures, and the same interviews that were included in the previous release.

It’s sure that this was thrown together with small conception or pains. The Chicago Sun Times did a better tribute part to the anniversary of the Blues Brothers than Aykroyd did for his acquire film.

Oh well…only five more years until the 30th Anniversary Edition comes out.

The Blues Brothers is a upright classic movie, one of the few SNL movies that is actually a apt account. Joliet Jake is recently released from prison and picked up by his brother Elwood. The two spy that the orphanage they grew up in is going to be sold to the Board of Education unless they can raise $5,000 to give to the Space Assesors office. The Blues Brothers try to gather the money by putting their band relieve together and doing a few gigs. Along the map, they exasperate the Illinois Place Police, the Illinois Nazi Party, the owner of Bob’s Country Bunker, and a band from Nashville, the Top-notch Ole Boys. This movie is substantial from beginning to waste. The musical numbers are all enormous including Jake’s revelation in the church, Ray Charles singing Shake Your Tail Feather, Aretha Franklin singing in her soul food diner, the peformance in Bob’s Country Bunker, and finally the concert at the raze including two of their best songs. As well, there is action galore from Elwood jumping a bridge with their 1974 Dodge Sedan to their chaotic skedaddle through a crowded mall to the police amble at the waste through the streets of Chicago( especially Lower Wacker Drive) and the breeze up the staircase to the Assessor’s office. The Blues Brothers has something for everybody and should not be missed.

The Blues Brothers are played to perfection by John Belushi as Jake and Dan Aykroyd as Elwood. The two actors are hysterical together throughout as they enrage honest about everybody in the city of Chicago. There are far too many lines to mention, but it is definite that they had fun making this movie. There are plenty of musical cameos also including Cab Calloway, James Brown as a preacher, Aretha Franklin as the owner of a Soul Food diner, Ray Charles as the owner of music store, and John Lee Hooker as a street peformer on Maxwell Street. The film also stars Carrie Fisher, John Candy, Kathleen Freeman, Henry Gibson, and many more. Also stare out for a very droll cameo by Frank Oz and a short appearance by Steven Spielberg. Also worth mentioning is the Blues Brothers band including Matt “Guitar” Murphy, Donald “Duck” Dunn, Murphy Dunne, “Blue Lou” Marini, Tom “Bones” Malone, Steve “The Colonel” Cropper, Alan Rubin, and Willy “Two Bits” Hall. The Collector’s Edition DVD offers widescreen presentation, the unusual theatrical trailer, a making of documentary with interviews with the cast and crew, and footage not seen since the recent release in 1980. This is a big movie that all viewers will pick up something to like in it. Do not miss this classic!

This movie is based on a very fantastic just chronicle about a Colombian Army unit who finds a rebel cache of millions of USD. Instead of turning it in, they recall the money and squawk no one. Unfortunately, the derive is not a secret for long. The title means “Dreams Cost Nothing” (literally) . I met the General of the Colombian Army who was in office at the time of this incident. He said the basis of the movie is honest, but he could not say whether or not the personal chronicle of one of the movies characters was proper. This movie contains a very poignant legal statement. The movie is in Spanish, but has subtitles.

I have seen this movie about 6 times and havent collect bored of it. Its a nice yarn and it makes you laugh as well I give it a 8 out of 10.

That being said, the movie is adorable, my child loved it. He’s a fan of dogs and of dog sledding and he enjoyed every bit of it!

This direct-to-video movie is a sequel to last year’s Air Buddies. In this one, the five pups accept themselves in Alaska, where they are soon befriended by Shasta, a Husky pup, and his owner, a young boy named Adam. The boy has tremendous dreams of becoming a sled dog racer, and if the Buddies can accumulate him to the do line they will be on their map serve home. They turn to a wise veteran Husky for mentorship, but on the day of the run, the Buds unexpectedly catch themselves on their possess. From what I’ve been able to peruse of the film I deem many younger kids will like it (the puppies are cute), but adults will be bored.

Here are the bonus features:

Don’t Disappear is infamous and totally fantastic and its stout of unbridled histrionics, but luckily Penelope Cruz’s impassioned performance as an unglamorous, multi-ethnic refuge living in Italy saves the day in this awkward and structurally uneven melodrama. This film is all about men and how they cheat on women, and how women are the victims of men and how men slay up getting what they want no matter what the cost to women.

Sergio Castellito – also the movie’s director – plays wealthy doctor Timoteo. Life seems friendly as he has a decorous marriage to the loving Elsa (Claudia Gerini), a brittle, ridiculously gorgeous clotheshorse and a thriving career. One afternoon, on the plan to a medical conference, his car breaks down, so he enlists the assist of Italia (Cruz), a trashy hotel cleaner.

Their relationship begins on a dreadfully violent notice – he brutally rapes her, treating her as an run valve for his worst fantasies of dominance. But something also begins to map him support to her. Unashamedly lying to his wife, Timoteo returns again and again to Italia and the two gradually earn something resembling a relationship. When Italia turns up pregnant at the same time as the wife, the drama starts to really over-cook.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Don’t Move! Click Here

Whilst Timoteo flashes attend to his affair with Italia, we are also given the parallel yarn of his teenage daughter teenage daughter (Elena Perino) who lies advance death in his hospital after a moped accident. As the surgeon stands vigil and his colleagues try to place the girl, he reflects on whether the tragedy might be karmic settlement for previous misdeeds. Of course, with both Italia and Elsa pregnant, Timoteo is faced with some difficult choices – he feels desperately staunch to his wife, but he’s also frantically in care for with Italia and admits that he can’t live without her.

As flashback is piled on top of flashback, the film ends up having a disjointed and structurally awkward quality, which ends up inhibiting mighty of the action. The sex is also remarkably devoid of titillation, with the most spoiled scene coming about half arrangement through the film where Italia and Timoteo have rain-soaked and grubby sex in the help of a filthy gloomy alley – she even gets to preserve her red shoes on.

By then the film has sort of primitive out it’s welcome, and most viewers will probably be tired of all the morbid and somewhat misogynistic histrionics being played out. The jam with this film is Timoteo doesn’t imbue grand sympathy with the viewer – as an Italian version of a male chauvinist pig, who is perfectly comfortable with being somewhat violent towards women and dogs, and compared to what becomes of Italia, he gets off quite lightly.

Castellito does solid work as the meticulous doctor who spends most of the movie behaving like a jerk and Cruz definitely consume the reveal as Italia. She gives an earthy, rounded and totally vulnerable performance complete with blowsy makeup, crummy teeth, too-tight skirts, and wild hair — but she gets you to feel for her character and even understand what makes her tick.

The movie as a whole is unprejudiced so unfocused and dramatically strained, and the myth is all over the station. Also, the inclusion of western pop music at obvious moments doesn’t fit with the sage and it’s plain to examine how Italia would cling to a man so willing to abuse her – yes, there is a reason she’s like this, but that doesn’t beget it any more realistic that she would let it happen.

Indeed, there are some remarkable emotional moments that work well, but for most of the movie you feel like you’re being manipulated by blatant and contrived melodramatics. Mike Leonard July 06.

“Don’t Travel” is an Italian film starring Penelope Cruz (’Vanilla Sky’) who is doing what other actresses (Juliette Binoche in ‘Cache’) have done. After scoring tall as an American actress in American films, she returns to her Italian-roots to be in an Italian film. “Don’t Proceed” is an absorbing film, it’s told out of chronological order. The movie is centered around a anxiety, while the main characer flashes wait on. The main character, by the plot, is Timoteo (played by the director Sergio Castellitto) . The movie opens with a aesthetic shot of rain falling, when we study a young girl being raced into a hospital after apparently having an accident. A few moments later, a nurse walks up to Timoteo (who’s a doctor) and tells him that it’s his daughter Angela. Flashing backwards, we view Timoteo breaking down in a microscopic italian town and meeting Italia (Cruz) . After going wait on to her house with her, Timoteo rapes her…It’s not a vicious rape scene, it’s actually elegant tame. It doesn’t even really witness like rape. Rest assured, this is far from Monica Bellucci in “Irreversible.” Well, Timoteo returns to his life and proposes to his girlfriend…But eventually returns to Italia to residence things right; But then he continues having an affair with her. I believe the ending is kind of predictable, you know which design the romance is heading throughout the entire thing but I don’t deem the writers gave a damn whether you knew that or not. This movie has some aesthetic scenes and delicate dialogue, which probably wouldn’t work in an American film. Director Castellitto is a gifted director that is also a astounding actor, he really puts his heart into his performance. As for Cruz, she’s sizable too. She gives an Oscar well-behaved performance but, oddly enough, she looks like crap. I don’t know if they didn’t let her wear makeup or impartial achieve too worthy on. I mean she really looks bad in this movie. If you assume Penelope Cruz is hot, don’t inspect this movie because it might demolish your understanding of her. Also, if you’re renting this movie merely for sex scenes (the camouflage strongly implies that there are some) this isn’t your movie. There’s several sex scenes, but there’s limited nudity in this film. The only nudity is shown during hospital scenes. But, if you’re into foreign films that are wonderfully done and have astonishing acting. Then check this movie out.

These movies were even better than I remembered them. Owen Wilson is humorous and charming, and Jackie Chan is as fabulous as ever.

I like action movies with some humor and these fit the bill. I’m not into martial arts for itself and had bought Shanghai Noon on VHS mainly because Owen Wilson was in it and I like his comedy. The combination of him with Chan is, at least in these two movies, irresistible. I don’t know about anyone else, but these are spacious movies for me.

Any film of Brideshead Revisited will inevitably be compared with the 1981 mini-series, and will suffer from the comparison. Evelyn Waugh’s modern was so rich and detailed that any attempt to depict it in a mere 2 hours or so will be wanting. I am a fan of the mini-series, which I have watched countless times, and I want to get it obvious that there are many things about this version that I gain very appealing: the exhaust of Castle Howard, the elegant acting by Michael Gambon, Emma Thompson, Hayley Atwell, Ben Whishaw, and Matthew Goode, and the glorious sets and costumes.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Brideshead Revisited! Click Here

Unfortunately the need to compress the tale distorts remarkable of what Evelyn Waugh intended. By making the appreciate affairs between Charles Ryder and Sebastian and Julia Flyte occur nearly simultaneously instead of Charles first loving Sebastian and then years later falling in admire with Julia, Waugh’s message of spiritual and emotional growth is blunted. More troubling is the lack of certain emphasis on Christianity and Roman Catholicism. Whereas in the book and the mini-series Lady Marchmain is a tragic, sympathetic figure, the film emphasizes her hauteur and coldness. This has larger immplications than honest a contrast in interpretation, since Lady Marchmain in stout allotment represents the Church. Furthermore, I am especially disappointed by the ending. In the book and mini-series we peruse an affirmation of both recent and enduring faith, while the film is far more equivocal.

Despite these reservations, I do value this film and intend to study it many times. While Waugh himself would be petrified over some of the modifications (he would call them distortions), this original interpretation of his work is ravishing in its acquire legal, and its ambiguities are a challenge which allows us to re-examine our gain beliefs.

When I first heard of this film I found it hard to imagine how anyone could succeed in cramming the complex fable of Brideshead Revisited into the 120 shrimp format that seems to be the norm for cinema these days, maybe as a favour to audiences suffering from attention deficit disorder. Calm, I didn’t examine great from Pride & Prejudice the movie, yet found myself enjoying that shapely well, so I took my chances with Brideshead too. But this time the experience was rather less satisfying, to establish it mildly.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Brideshead Revisited! Click Here

For someone familiar with the broad, intricate, subtly tinted canvases of Waugh’s book and the phenomenal TV-series, this is like seeing a swiftly copy executed in indecent strokes and garish colours. Within 20 minutes from the launch Charles and Sebastian aren’t honest friends, they actually appear to be lovers. The cheerful thing is plastered on plan too thick and goes far beyond anything suggested by Waugh. The blueprint the storyline is distorted, it makes it seems as if Sebastian starts drinking out of frustration over Charles’s rejection of him in favour of his sister Julia. This is a result of the low conflation of elements from Waugh’s narrative, which uproots its refined psychological dynamics. Indeed, subtlety is nowhere to be found; the Flytes in this movie are a delicate indecent bunch, and Sebastian’s Oxford circle too has none of the aristocratic manners and sophisticated wit we would put a question to from them.

There are in this film many more scenes that made me cringe than in any movie I recently watched: the Flytes gathering around a statue of the Virgin Mary, singing the Salve Regina; Lady Marchmain coming to the house of Charles’s father and throwing an emotional scene; all appearances of Anthony Blanch, period (mercifully little to only two) ; Charles buying Julia from Mottram for a few paintings; Sebastian making a scene at his sister’s coming out ball; et cetera.

The casting doesn’t attend. Matthew Goode is a likeable Charles Ryder, but method too faded and confident, with the added dilemma of him being rather more splendid than Sebastian, who is played by the gaunt, scary-looking Ben Wishaw. Wishaw completely misses out on the complicated combination of superiority and vulnerability in Sebastian’s deeply vexed character, indeed, seems to employ most of his screentime throwing fond looks at Charles (which is unprejudiced about the reverse of what happens in the fresh epic) . Hayley Atwell’s Julia lacks any sense of grandeur or style, and is reduced to miniature more than a petulant schoolgirl; I couldn’t for the life of me imagine why Charles would topple in savor with her, there is no chemistry at all between the characters. I’m definite Emma Thompson could have made something extraordinary out of Lady Marchmain had she been given the proper lines, but alas; here she is impartial a gorgon, who, like others characters too, may surprise you by suddenly going psychotherapist, explaining to Charles that he is so desperate to be liked. None of the subtle emotional blackmail that Claire Bloom so masterfully weaved into her performance in the series. Most other characters could have been dispensed with altogether; with their organic ties to the narrative severed, figures like Blanche, Ryder’s father, Boy Mulcaster, cousin Jasper, Cordelia, Samgrass, or Celia get mere token appearances.

So what you are left with is a bunch of fairly good-looking, nicely dressed people cavorting in blooming surroundings. No cliché is spared. We don’t unprejudiced go to Venice, no, of course it has to be the Carnival and the Lido. Castle Howard is always a pleasure to explore at but hardly an new choice (and I don’t understand by the life of me why everybody is constantly arriving at and departing from the garden front – maybe so as not to disturb the business of tourism? We do not once explore the other side. The house was passe powerful more fully in the TV-series.) Surprisingly, the series despite its 4:3 ratio generally has a far more cinematic feel to it than this film, which often looks made-for-TV. No doubt some will argue that such comparisons are unfair and the film should be judged on its contain merits alone; I disagree. True up to the final scene, the entire point of Waugh’s record is lost. Anyone who films the work of a substantial author takes on a responsibility towards that work, and the makers of this film have definitely failed in that regard, i.e., they impartial mangled it.

I like David Mamet’s screenwriting a lot, and his direction is beneficial too. While this movie isn’t his absolutely top-drawer material (_House of Games_, _Spanish Prisoner_), it’s serene arrangement better than the usual bustle of ‘political thrillers’.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Spartan! Click Here

If you know who Mamet is, you already know that his dialogue is lean, focused, and idiosyncratic to the point of surreality. You also know to quiz a space consisting of one mind-bending twist after another. This movie will meet your expectations.

It probably won’t exceed them; as political films go, this isn’t quite up to _Wag the Dog_ (another of Mamet’s best screenplays) . Its spot is actually — for Mamet — pleasing straightforward: Laura Newton, the president’s daughter, has disappeared, and super-duper Gloomy Ops guy ‘Scott’ (Val Kilmer) is going to catch her wait on.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Spartan! Click Here

By the time we’re through we’ve been cycled through quite a bit of ruthlessness, cynicism, and unflattering revelations about political ambition. The direction is extraordinarily marvelous — and, for what it’s worth, the deaths (of which there are many) are eerily realistic, not yer usual Hollywood screaming-bullets-and-exploding-cars BS. The ensemble cast is extraordinary (particularly Kilmer) .

But we don’t really visit any unique territory. For my taste there are a few too many cliches here — which would be somewhat more acceptable if they were at least Mamet’s _own_ cliches, but some of these are Tom Clancy’s.

Nonetheless it’s all handled deftly and intelligently, and it’s miles above the usual bustle of political thrillers. I’m giving this one four stars by comparison with Mamet’s other films, but compared to everything else it’s a five-star movie.

Director David Mamet has created a cramped gem of a movie. It is not flashy, it does not rely on towering effects or an improper amount of violence to glean its point across. Instead, Spartan is a thriller that allows the viewer to use his or her mind in order to earn the connections between the movies black and alluring set points. Many mysteries reach up all throughout the movie, and it takes quite the amateur detective to figure them out. Luckily, the mystique of the movie is a substantial attend to the entertainment value, as one is snappy drawn into the black and gritty cutthroat world that Spartan takes state in.

Val Kilmer, who delivers a riveting performance as a coldly mechanical Special Forces officer, is section of a natty secret covert operations force known as “The Cadre”. Kilmer is removed from his job as a training officer to undertake a highly sensitive operation. The President’s daughter, a glamourous college student, has been kidnaped, and the speed is on to obtain her before it hits the press. Kilmer is a man archaic to getting results, so he begins a violent rampage through the criminal network that seems to have taken the girl hostage. Through any means important, Kilmer soon discovers a fiendish sex slavery ring that procures young girls for overseas clients. Fair as Kilmer is about to conclude the deal and rescue the first daughter, shadowy political forces method over his head step in. Kilmer realizes that some, for their possess unknown motives, would seize the first daughter halt lost, forcing him to construct a difficult decision. He is objective a gunman, a well trained killing machine, dynamic plan has not be allowed to him. Should he follow orders he knows are morally disagreeable, or go renegade and investigate for himself? Kilmer, a man of honor, makes a decision that will do the lives of many, especially his maintain. He is the singular Spartan, sent to determine a military spot by himself.

The atmosphere of Spartan is the most potent aspect of the movie. It is constantly unlit and dusky, a world besmirched by brutal villains and sinful political operatives. The cover is only broken by the figure of Kilmer, who is a monotone but bright force of great nature, as he tears through this world of lies with a 9mm pistol and a animated brain. The position is well paced, slowly revealing strands of truth at appropriate points. I felt the supporting cast was a shrimp sparse in their conclude, as the normally unbelievable William H. Macy is relegated to a very minute allotment. Also, the ending, which was effectively disturbing, also struck me as ridiculous in a sense, but that is up to you to choose. Numerous cliches and unconvincing coincidences pop up, but they do not consume away from the overall quality of the film. A very cerebral and involving thriller.

What a huge music dvd this is. I normally do not like music dvds, too often filled with preening and self-adoration. But this one is different, showing the geography and scope of Iceland and its people in a very original, low-key and luminous draw, as well as showing off the music and the relative humility and humanity (as well as talent) of the musicians. I bought my first Sigur Ros CD years ago, and hadn’t any notion what any of them looked like. You win to behold them here, but in such a humble, accepted man device it is really refreshing. You also gape remarkable of the ordinary people of Iceland and the massive, empty scenery of the set. Impartial handsome at virtually every level.

Beautifully filmed and expertly edited, this is one of the best music documentary/tour films I’ve seen. It delivers titanic performances in incredible settings, and was made with positive affection towards the land and the people of Iceland.

I’m really begging with Amazon to not confuse The novel Superman II: The Richard Donner Prick, with the unusual Superman II: Richard Lester version because both of these are completely different films & should be treated as such.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Superman II! Click Here

1st thing people who truely deem that Richard Lester is a expansive director & did a mountainous job on SII need a reality check. All he did was catch an already huge script done by SUPERMAN I creative consultant Tom Mankiewicz, and 70-80% shot by Richard Donner shift around some stuff & develop the film (all the actors were there for him, a donkey could have done it) .

Lester would also add some unneeded slap stick humor (e.g. Metropolis fight scene where the three orderly villains consume their orderly breath to blow out the Metropolis civilians where after an unneeded and very cheesey moment of slap stick dreadful homage to Charlie Chaplin stances capture location & the earlier scene of when the supervillains are introduced by duking it out in the American wild west??? ) .

Buy,Download, Or Stream Superman II! Click Here

Lester would be found out as a director in the unpleasant Superman III where his slap stick humour would basically extinguish the film but not to say his version of Superman II is awful but it objective doesn’t compare to the brilliance of number 1, especially after repeated watchings II impartial seems like a awful boys substiute!!

Donner on the other hand had completely different thinking for II it was meant to be on the same anecdote scale & feeling a I & in quality terms match it if not even better it. Also around 30% of the Lester film uses Donner’s footage whilst in the SII:DC it uses around 80% footage & will feel like a completely different film.

Having already seen some of the unique scenes, e.g. Lois jumping out of the window of The Daily Planet to proove that Clark is Superman, The fight with The Neat Villains over Metropolis, some of the fresh Brando scenes, & Lois’s tearful farewell, it’s determined that this film will be entirely different from the novel theatrical realise of SII & should be treated as an entirely different film not build as if it’s impartial a normal directors nick of an already realised film!!!

Please Amazon originally the link was seperate so why change it???

Much of Superman II was filmed simultaneously with the first movie. The current understanding was to have Superman I ruin with a cliffhanger: The nuclear missile that Lex Luthor spot for Hackensack Current Jersey, which Superman diverted into outer location, explodes, shattering the Phantom Zone and setting the three Kryptonian criminals free. Then the action would freeze-frame, and the shroud would flash with “Next Year, Superman II.”

Buy,Download, Or Stream Superman II! Click Here

Time constraints and studio politics assign an ruin to that scenario. As the first movie was speedily completed to meet the release date, Superman II was establish on gain. Then, director Richard Donner was fired, and replaced with Richard Lester. Even though 70% of the second film was complete, mighty of Donner’s footage was reshot by Lester. In the final film, about one-third of the remaining footage is Donner’s. All scenes with Gene Hackman, Valerie Perrine, Ned Beatty, or E. G. Marshall were shot by Donner. In addition, the scene at the diner where Clark gets attacked was shot by Donner. As sequences for Superman II were filmed as powerful as two years apart from each other, there are glaring continuity problems in the film. Lester station a different tone than Donner, opting for slapstick humor over the verisimilitude of the first movie. Also, because of good difficulties, all footage with Marlon Brando was removed, including a keen scene where Jor-El sacrifices his remaining spirit to return Superman’s powers (rather like God touching the hand of Adam) . Anyone who has seen the recent script for Superman II knows it would have been a better film if Donner had remained at the helm.

So, how is Lester’s Superman II? Splendid impressive overall. There is enormous character development, particularly in the Lois/Clark/Superman adore triangle, and plenty of action to retain the viewer delighted. The visuals are mostly on the same level as the first movie, although the destruction of the Phantom Zone and the defacing of Mount Rushmore eye graceful cheap. John Williams’ genuine rep is cannibalized by Ken Thorne, conducting what sounds like a high school orchestra. So, overall, while bewitching, the movie lacks the story scope of the first film, and is far less memorable.

The letterboxed DVD looks aesthetic is unspectacular. The sound is flat and unimpressive. Warner has packaged the DVD in their usual cheap snapper case.
